Avengers: Infinity War Theory Says Thanos Left Captain America Alive On Purpose

The various heroes all put up a good fight against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, but one of the most impressive moments came when Captain America managed to hold his own against the Mad Titan in a brawl. During the Battle of Wakanda, Steve Rogers was able to halt Thanos’s fist with his bare hands, causing the villain to display a certain amount of shock and awe on his face at his opponent’s surprising strength.

As impressive as Cap’s strength was in this scene, though, Thanos could’ve easily dealt with him. He had five of the Infinity Stones at this point so he could’ve turned him into string if he wanted to. Or, he could’ve just used his other hand to get the better of Steve and finish him off with good, old-fashioned brute force. But, curiously, Thanos did neither of these things and

Viola Davis (‘Widows’) could still get Oscar nomination with only BAFTA as major precursor

Viola Davis (‘Widows’) could still get Oscar nomination with only BAFTA as major precursor
Viola Davis received a much-needed boost in our Best Actress predictions for her performance as Veronica Rawlins in “Widows” thanks to the BAFTA Awards, who just gave her her third career nomination. While Davis had earned a fair amount of nominations from critics’ groups for “Widows,” BAFTA was her one and only mention from the major precursors, having been snubbed at the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice and SAG Awards. Now, she is in a position to potentially sneak in at the Oscars, as many had been predicting earlier in the season.

SEE5 performers who got an Oscar boost from BAFTA nominations: Viola Davis, Adam Driver, Claire Foy, Sam Rockwell, Margot Robbie

Widows” has had a roller coaster of an award season, with its all-star cast led by Davis and the pedigree of Steve McQueen and Gillian Flynn making it an early contender. Then it was released in November and written

The Five Best Javier Bardem Movies of His Career

There are individuals that don’t ever seem to decide if they want to act unless the position is kind of hand-delivered by fate. The Mummy Director Says The Movie Wasn’t What He Wanted It To Be

Universal had big plans for 2017’s The Mummy. The Tom Cruise vehicle was supposed to launch the studio’s horror-infused answer to Marvel’s the Avengers in the form of the Dark Universe, starring such big names as Johnny Depp as the Invisible Man, Javier Bardem as Frankenstein’s Monster and Russell Crowe as Mr. Hyde (who debuted in The Mummy). Unfortunately, however, there was just one snag: the film flopped as hard as a mummy tripping over its own wrappings.

Nowadays, director Alex Kurtzman is focusing on his TV work, as he’s shepherding the Star Trek franchise on the small screen. And while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he touched on how The Mummy didn’t turn out the way he expected but said that it did teach him to always go with his own storytelling instincts.

“I’m no longer involved in that and have no idea

Critics’ Choice film predictions: Richard E. Grant will stop Mahershala Ali from making history in Best Supporting Actor

Critics’ Choice film predictions: Richard E. Grant will stop Mahershala Ali from making history in Best Supporting Actor
Mahershala Ali won the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe for “Green Book,” but he won’t pick up a Critics’ Choice Award on Sunday, according to our odds. Richard E. Grant (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”) is favored to take home the prize, which would deny Ali the chance to be the first person to win this category twice.

Grant, who’s nabbed a slew of critics awards, has 9/2 odds to prevail for his scene-stealing turn as Melissa McCarthy‘s drinking buddy/literal partner-in-crime Jack Hock. Seven Experts, four Editors and 14 of our Top 24 users are going with Grant. Anne Thompson (IndieWire) is the sole Expert backing Ali, who also has the support of two Editors and 10 of our Top 24 users.

Why Penélope Cruz Only Wants to Work With Javier Bardem "Once in a While"

Why Penélope Cruz Only Wants to Work With Javier Bardem
Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem want to "protect" their relationship, which is why they don't always want to work together. In her cover story for Marie Claire's February issue, Cruz opens up about her family, explaining why she only wants to work with Bardem "once in a while." Though the couple, who tied the knot in 2010 and share two kids together, have collaborated a number of times in the past and co-star in the recently released film Everybody Knows, Cruz believes it's better to not work with her husband all of the time. "Obviously we can't choose parts just for logistical reasons, like 'Oh let's work together because it's easier.' No. In fact,...

Local comedies once again powered the Spanish box office in 2018

Local comedies once again powered the Spanish box office in 2018

Will Mahershala Ali be the 1st multiple supporting actor champ at the SAG Awards?

Will Mahershala Ali be the 1st multiple supporting actor champ at the SAG Awards?
The supporting actor category at the Screen Actors Guild Awards is the only one of the four individual acting categories not to have a repeat winner, but that could all change next month if Mahershala Ali prevails.

The “Green Book” star, who won for “Moonlight” (2016), is the only nominee this year who was even a previous nominee in the category, let alone a winner. But the Oscar frontrunner is currently in third place in our combined odds, behind Richard E. Grant (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”) and Sam Elliott (“A Star Is Born”). Timothee Chalamet (“Beautiful Boy”) and Adam Driver (“BlacKkKlansman”) are in fourth and fifth, respectively. Grant, the critical favorite, and Elliott, one of “A Star Is Born”‘s field-leading four bids, are veterans with lengthy careers, which could give them an edge with a group that likes to recognize older stars.
