PGA Awards predictions: Best Limited Series will be a cakewalk for ‘Versace’

PGA Awards predictions: Best Limited Series will be a cakewalk for ‘Versace’
The team behind “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” better clear more room on their shelves because the show is our predicted Best Limited Series champ at Saturday’s Producers Guild of America Awards.

“Versace,” which has a commanding 16/5 odds, has swept the limited series/TV movie prizes so far, claiming the Emmy, Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award. A victory would also make the “American Crime Story” anthology series the second program with multiple wins in the category, following its FX brethren “Fargo” (2015-16); “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” similarly dominated the season two years ago.

In second place is HBO’s “Sharp Objects.” The premium cable network missed out on what would’ve been a gimme win in this category last year when it renewed “Big Little Lies

Glenn Close would be third oldest Best Actress winner in Oscar history

Glenn Close would be third oldest Best Actress winner in Oscar history
After her wins at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards, Glenn Close has skyrocketed to the top of our Best Actress Oscar chart. If she prevails on February 24, she would make history as the first woman with six losses to finally win an Academy Award for acting. And, at age 71 years and 342 days as of the ceremony date, she’d land in third place on the list of the 10 oldest Best Actress winners. Close would supplant Marie Dressler, who was just a day over 63 when she won this award at the 4th Oscars way back in 1931 for “Min and Bill.”

The only two women to win that were older than Dressler as of the date of their respective Academy Awards were: Jessica Tandy, who was 80 years and 292 days when she took home the Oscar in 1990 for “Driving Miss Daisy”; and Katharine Hepburn, who was 74 years and 321 days when she

The couple married in 1987, and Andres drew acclaim in 1996 for her film “Black Kites,” which played at Sundance, Berlin, and Toronto and aired on PBS. Andres was known for her “film/dance/light” experimental performance art through the ’80s, and was

True Detective Season 3: Scoot McNairy Proves His True Crime Bona Fides

Alec Bojalad Jan 10, 2019

Scoot McNairy, one of TV's most useful and intriguing actors, is excited about True Detective Season 3 and wants you to be too.

When HBO and True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto were looking for an actor to portray the raw pain of a father who loses a child for True Detective Season 3, they undoubtedly wanted someone with some true crime experience. Thankfully, in choosing Scoot McNairy they unknowingly found the world's biggest true crime fan.

In addition to enjoying modern true crime favorites like The Jinx and Making a Murderer, McNairy (Narcos: Mexico) has seen every episode of classic forensic science documentary series Forensic Files. No really, every episode. All 406 of them (he thinks at least).

"I remember about two years ago I started to see reruns and I was like, 'Oh my God, I think I've seen them all.' Embarrassing," McNairy says.

Despite all the hours spent watching Forensic Files,

First Look at Jude Law, John Malkovich in ‘The New Pope’
A first-look image of Paolo Sorrentino’s TV series “The New Pope” has been released showing John Malkovich and Jude Law both wearing papal vestments, which appears to confirm rumors that Malkovich will play the new pontiff. The show is currently shooting in Venice.

Sky, HBO, and Canal Plus have also announced that “Homeland” star Mark Ivanir has joined the cast of “The New Pope,” as well as veteran British actor Henry Goodman (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”); Denmark’s Ulrich Thomsen (“The Blacklist”); and Italy’s Massimo Ghini (“No Place Like Home”). Details are being kept under wraps about their roles in the limited eight-episode series, which is not, strictly speaking, a second season of “The Young Pope.”

Malkovich’s casting had been previously announced. Sharon Stone is also widely reported to be a guest star on “The New Pope,” but a representative for production company Wildside declined to comment Wednesday.

‘Vikings’ To End After Season 6, Followup Series In Works At History From Michael Hirst & MGM Television
Exclusive: History’s flagship scripted series Vikings will be ending its run after the upcoming 20-episode sixth season.

As the hit drama is wrapping, History, Vikings creator Michael Hirst and studio MGM Television, are looking to extend the Vikings franchise with a new series. I’ve learned that the network is in talks with MGM and Hirst about a new series from the same creative team as the original series, which would continue the Vikings saga. If the offshoot project, which is in early stages, moves forward, Hirst will be joined by feature writer Jeb Stuart.

Vikings, which will end its run after a total of 89 episodes, is currently halfway through airing the back 10 episodes of its 20-episode fifth season, with the finale slated for Jan. 30. The series recently wrapped production on the final sixth season, which is expected to debut later this year, with the

TVLine Items: StarTalk Pulled Amid Investigation, Halston Mini and More

National Geographic Channel has pulled Neil deGrasse Tyson‘s chat show StarTalk off its schedule while Fox Networks Group conducts a sexual misconduct investigation into the host/astrophysicist, our sister site Variety reports.

Last November, Tyson’s former assistant, Ashley Watson, claimed that she was forced to quit her job over Tyson’s inappropriate sexual advances. Additionally, Bucknell professor Dr. Katelyn N. Allers accused Tyson of groping her at an after-party for the American Astronomical Society in 2009. Tyson responded to each claim, plus an earlier rape accusation made by fellow former graduate student Tchiya Amet, in a lengthy Facebook post.
